O’Brien-Kovari previously spent eight years as a public defender and his practice focuses on the defense of tort and catastrophic loss claims in California and federal court. Elizabeth Mendez ’13 won an Emmy for Outstanding Newscast last September for her work with Vice News Tonight. Mendez joined Vice in 2020 as a segment producer in the Washington, D.C. bureau. She moved back to New York City last year and continues to cover political stories from the company’s headquarters in Brooklyn.

Chloe (Wilson) Sommers ’13 completed a J.D. with certificates in Public Interest Law and Child Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. Her husband, Ron Sommers, a Boston College alumnus, earned an M.D. from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. The couple is moving to Madison, Wisconsin, in June 2018.

The Reno Bighorns acquired eight players in the NBA Development League Draft, including Kevin Foster ’13 in the fourth round. Six-foot-two Foster played for Santa Clara from 2008 to 2013 and made 431 3-point field goals, tied for the fourth-most all-time in NCAA Division I history.
